Costa Coffee
new metropolitan store concept

We worked with Costa Coffee to develop a new Metropolitan concept for their city stores. Starting by creating an in-depth trend report into the coffee sector, we looked at independent coffee shops globally (our report can be seen here). Our design aimed to bring a more artisan-feel to the environments, moving away from the ‘cookie-cutter’ approach, with each shop having local features and providing an ideal place to either drop into for a quick coffee fix to staying inside for a more relaxing visit.

Our design proposes a new signage system which identifies which road the stores are on to give a more metropolitan yet local feel.

Auditing the existing experience is an essential part of the design process. Looking at its strengths and weaknesses to ensure the evolution of the design is an improvement and not detrimental to the existing customer base.

To ensuring the customer journey flowed seamlessly we did a audit of the best and worst customer journeys. We looked at the high street chains and the best in class independents.

Fabric and furniture selection was key to our pitch concept. We felt this is where the personality and human touch can shine through.
